The “Salvador Seguí” Higher Conservatory of Music of Castelló presents the 5th edition of FESTMUS, a music festival specialized in promoting and disseminating contemporary musical creation and its intersections with technology. As the central pillar of its 2026 programme, the festival will host the 7th International Competition for the Interpretation of New Music: Re_Cre@, supported by the Institut Superior d’Ensenyances Artístiques de la Comunitat Valenciana (ISEACV), Institut Valencià de Cultura (IVC), Castelló City Council, and the Auditori i Palau de Congressos de Castelló.

Re_Cre@ has established itself as a competition platform where young artists present comprehensive artistic proposals. Beyond interpretative excellence, the competition values the creation of a unique artistic discourse that may meaningfully integrate the fusion of performing arts, electronic and electroacoustic media, multimedia narratives, sound art and innovative uses of technology.

The event reaffirms its commitment to offering the new generation of performers opportunities to promote their careers as complete artists, becoming references in the musical creation of their time. We aspire for Re_Cre@ to inspire them to explore the creative universe of today, providing a space where artistic merit, creativity, innovation and effort are recognised, rewarded and endorsed by specialists and institutions.

Furthermore, the continuity of the competition reinforces its support for the most recent composition, as the winning ensemble will receive a commission for a newly created piece by a composer from the Valencian Community, to be premiered at the following edition and funded by the IVC.

The competition, governed by guidelines designed to support artists and respond to contemporary languages, opens its stage to diverse formations and formats. Its objective is clear: for the music of our time to connect with audiences, and for young performers to lead this space of experimentation and expression through their own artistic languages.
